eBay Powerseller Tip 1: Titles must be powerful
The title of your auction is critical in the success of your auction listings. Just take a look through a selection of auctions, and then look again, reading each listing one by one. How many did you actually see the first time? Probably not many, and the ones that you do remember seeing will inevitably be those who have a powerful title. There have been plenty of examples of people offering ridiculous 'buy it now' prices that have gone unsold because they were simply invisible to the potential buyers due to poorly written titles. Hopefully this should illustrate to you the importance of getting things right before your auction goes live.
So, what makes a good eBay auction title? To understand this, you need to consider how the average eBay buyer uses the site, and in most cases the answer is via search. Obvious huh? Obviously not obvious, as very few people will type 'look at this', 'rock bottom price' and the like into the search box. Instead they will type a product name, model number, brand name and the like - so its vital to get this into your title. Whether the search in on eBay, Google, Yahoo or Bing, time and time again, studies show that users are more likely to click on results matching exactly what they typed. think professional, to the point and informative.
Some additional golden rules for your titles are separate keywords with spaces as you would do with normal English, there's no need to use commas or hyphens. Keep punctuation to a minimum, it's not a novel, so use the space you have to convey your message clearly and concisely. In addition, try to stick to normal letters and numbers as far as possible. Using the & symbol instead of 'and' may cause your search results not to appear correctly, or worse still not to appear at all. Also avoid using $ or £ signs - these look unprofessional and may appear spammy to the search engines, causing them not to list your auction at all. General good ideas include capitalisation - make the first letter of each word upper case just like any other title. You could even look at the competition - try to be different. The title also does not necessarily need to be a sentence - getting your main keywords in and leaving it at that may prove more effective.
eBay Powerseller Tip 2: Be Professional
You are asking people for money - never forget that. If you give them the slightest hint you may be out to scam them or will be otherwise unprofessional they are likely to move on to the next seller. Be accurate, and more importantly be complete. If it is going to cost a fortune to insure the item to be shipped, tell them that. They'll only drop out later if you try to hide it early on. Most likely the buyer will know that anyway, so credit them with a bit of intelligence, make the point clearly and you'll find you will be more likely to attract serious buyers. Descriptions should be well presented, clear, concise and provide all the information a buyer will need, without wasting their time so they move on to someone else. Your description is your chance to set your auction apart from the others.
By the time you come to sell your products on eBay, you will have chosen them for a reason. Make sure you get that belief in your products into your listings, you are in sales after all!
eBay Powerseller Tip 3: Be Creative
Look again at the auctions already running in your niche. How many look exactly the same? These sellers are relying on pure chance that the buyer clicks their listing to look at - and the chance of them going on to bid is even less likely. Spend time practising with the tools in your account, create high quality images for your auctions and try to do things a little differently. Many buyers think they've seen it all - prove them wrong and it will be your auction they're fighting to win. And there we have it - your very own bidding war.
These three eBay powerseller tips alone will stand you in great stead for getting ahead of your rival auctions. It pays to create a system for yourself to succeed - make sure these points are fully integrates into your system and strategy.
